Gianna Christensen is an accomplished jazz and commercial trumpet player based in the Las Vegas and Dallas/Fort Worth area. Starting trumpet at just 12 years old, Gianna was heavily inspired to pursue a career for music after being sponsored for Jazz Outreach Initiative’s Jazz Routes Program, and was awarded a professional trumpet and a year of private lessons for free from her long time mentor Gary Cordell.

Following into college, Gianna actively advocates for more representation for women in jazz and speaks up for those who struggle to make a presence for themselves in the music industry. She is apart of a support group for young female jazz trumpet players with some of the biggest trumpet names in Broadway today, including Liesl Whitaker, Jami Dauber, and Bria Skonberg.

Gianna’s music experience expands across multiple levels, including both teaching and performing. She has taught piano to elementary school kids, and trumpet to middle school students. She has performed in multiple famous concert halls across the United States, including Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, and several notable restaurants and venues across Las Vegas and DFW (Vic’s, The Venetian, Harvest House, Windmills, company anniversaries, etc.) Gianna is especially interested in playing in the pit musical theatre shows which she hopes to pursue more in her later career.

Gianna is currently a first-year jazz studies student at the University of North Texas, and plays split lead for the 4 O Clock Lab Band. She is studying with several notable jazz players both in and outside of Texas, such as Alan Baylock, Rob Parton, Philip Dizack, and Isaac Swanson. She is planning on pursuing gigs in Dallas during the school year, and performing more in Las Vegas during the summer.
